I love this world you have created!
I wondered if Nerola really needs all this gold. Thewlin has come to grips with the fact that is married to a godess but why does Nerola and her family have to 'ignore' his wishes? I don't mean not having any luxury or gold and gems around but... what so much of it? Thewlin is a simple man, why not keep it simple for him.
Don't get me wrong these gods are unlike any I've read before, wise, generous, just, cheerful and loving toward each other and their subjects. I guess gods can't grasp completely what it means to be mortal and without any powers.
Nerola doesn;t NEED the gold as such, it was that each piece held special memories....they had been made by her brother or given to her by close friends....much as a mother keeps the drawings and 'jewellery' her child makes from pasta.. it's not that it is gold but that it was crafted with love.
Thewlin will get used to the riches, he is now one of the wealthiest men around....
They aren't pure Gods, they are part human, the Goddess is training them for future life....but no, they have always had some sort of power. even political power
