Who did you mourn the most after JKR killed them... in the HP world, that is?

I have a question for everyone? Whose death were you the most outraged at from Harry Potter? The last book, especially, JKR seemed to kill almost everyone (except for Harry, which I have to admit, I thought she would have done). Was Remus and Tonk's deaths necessary? What about Fred? Snape? He sacrificed almost the most throughout the book, including the woman he loved, and he died! I think I was the most outraged at Hedwig's death, which may sound flippant to most of you, but it was because of Harry's reaction to it. Harry had already lost so much at that time... his mother, his father, Sirius, Dumbledore. Why kill his owl? I heard in an interview with JKR that she was going to kill Hagrid or Mr. Weasley, but she thought that would have been TOO MUCH for Harry. Really? Hmmm. What do you all think?

I think Fred got me the worst. Killing off a twin, especially as close as Fred and George were, really seems cold. I also really happened to like him. Read something that said 'Every mirror is the Mirror of Erised to George, because he see's Fred in every reflection.' Gah! The feels.
I would have much preferred her killing off Arthur.
I understood Remus and Tonks. It seemed to bring the story to full circle. Teddy won't know his parents, just as Harry didn't know his. Though Teddy has Harry and Andromeda to tell him how wonderful his parents were. I think it was meant to say there will always be orphans of war.
I can pretty much bear the other deaths, although I must admit Hedwig seemed a tad unnecessary.

Glad you agree with me about the owl, although of course, I wasn't try to say the owl's death was more heartbreaking than a 'person' dying, even a fictional one, but I think you hit the nail on the head when you say that it was unnecessary. I also agree wholeheartedly about Fred and George. I usually write canon, but sometimes I forget (conveniently so) that Fred died, and I'll write him.

I think there were a lot of unnecessary deaths, but Fred was horrific, because of the twin thing, Colin Creevey, Dobby, Hedwig.. in real life Harry would have needed councilling for years and been unlikely to develop healthy relationships... it stank

If you had asked me this question shortly after HBP and DH were published, my answers would have been a heartfelt, why did Fred die; why Colin, why Remus and Tonks? However, so many years later, I would say that although I miss all the characters, life is not fair, and in war, no one is safe. I do miss them all, perhaps little Dobby most of all!

You all know I am a huge fan of alive Severus, but I also admit, in the real world, JKR had no other choice but to have him die. Only in our imaginations can we give him a happily ever after, but I honestly can admit, if JKR's world had been real, what he would have done had he lived?
A little of this, a little of that, a lot of confusion. That's my life!

Open up an orphanage?
He would have just gone on as he had I suppose. There are a lot of people who have lost someone they love. Life goes on...
