Did Hermione actually find out about it and what it does? In the chapter about it in PS, Harry only mentions it to Ron. At the end of the book however, once they visit him in the hospital wing, it says Harry told them "everything" including the mirror...but he was only explaining that last confrontation and the mirror's role, right? So was it ever explained to Hermione what the mirror actually does? What do you think?

Hubby and I talked a bit about this...he feels that if you take the book at face value and do not interject any other notion (movie portrayal of the mirror scenes for example), then no, Hermione does not know how the mirror worked until after the confrontation at the end of the school year. Then I got to thinking...Ron knew about the mirror because at Christmas time he and Harry saw it together, but when you read carefully, you see that Harry did NOT tell Ron how it works, just that he needed to stand just so to see anything.

But I think that with JKR's use of the word, 'everything', you could safely assume Harry told them how the mirror worked. Just my two cents.
A little of this, a little of that, a lot of confusion. That's my life!

I wonder what she would remember of the conversation seven years later. Maybe I'll gloss it over a bit.

I think she would. Would she remember it word for word? Depends on if you're writing canon Hermione or fanon Hermione. Although I think you tend toward canon. Simply out of innate curiosity, she would have researched it and tucked it away in her brain for later use.

Are you kidding? Hermione would remember it and be able to expound about it after she went to the library. She's like that.
